Man City vs Sheff Utd

Wolves-Manchester City game online, on TVThe Wolverhampton Wanderers begin arguably the toughest possible set of back-to-back opponents in the Premier League when they host Manchester City at Molineux Stadium on Friday. Following their meeting with Man City, Wolves will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.

While the Reds appear to be running away with the Prem, the Cityzens are in a tight battle with Leicester City for second place in the table. With 38 points, City currently sits one point behind the Foxes, but atop many statistical categories in the league, including goals for, shots and time of possession.

Wolverhampton hasn’t been nearly as dominant and doesn’t have the same sheer firepower as City, but remains on pace for a successful season. With 27 points, Wolves currently sit in eighth place in the league table, but a win Friday would have them leapfrog three other clubs into fifth.

The Reds enter Sunday 10 points clear of second-place Leicester City with two matches in hand, meaning Liverpool can pretty much start planning a double-decker parade for the spring. Jurgen Klopp’s men are unbeaten in their last 35 league games, but the German manager doesn’t think it’s possible to break Arsenal’s historic streak of 49 matches without a loss.

Sunday’s match could be why. Seventh-place Wolverhampton Wanderers are coming off a win against Manchester City, and Wolves are 2-2-2 against the Premier League’s “Big Six” this season. Liverpool lost to Wolves in last year’s FA Cup, so Nuno Espirito Santo’s side won’t be intimidated by Klopp’s.[RELATED: Spurs scrape draw after VAR rules out Pukki goal]Here’s how to watch Sunday’s Liverpool-Wolves match online and on TV.

Arsenal host fourth-place Chelsea on Sunday, with the two sides squaring off for the first time since May’s Europa League Final.

Much has changed in the dugouts since then — Frank Lampard took over as Chelsea’s manager this summer — but even more has changed in the Premier League table. The Blues have a tenuous hold on the final UEFA Champions League qualification spot, while 12th-place Arsenal enter Sunday’s match closer to relegation (six points clear) than Champions League qualification (eight points back).

Liverpool vs Wolves

Liverpool will kick of their last match of 2019 a full 13 points ahead of the nearest competition, with a game in hand. It’s a good place to be, especially considering the punishing schedule they’ve faced in December. But the Reds have refused to be daunted by petty trivialities like the limits of the human body. They’ve pressed on, winning all of their league games, including a blowout against their nearest rivals Leicester City on Thursday at the King Power Stadium.

Premier League | Anfield

But now they’re coming home to Anfield to close out a breathtaking year by taking on Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are fresh off of a come-from-behind victory against Manchester City. Wolves will be looking to take down another giant in the form of the league leaders.

While bigger teams like Manchester United and Arsenal are struggling this season, Wolves are taking full advantage. They’re sitting in fifth place at the moment, a mere two points off of a Champions League spot. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has done an excellent job getting the best out of his players, and in particular Raul Jimenez, who already has seven goals this season.

Liverpool, meanwhile, hope to make it 10 wins on the bounce. And continue to just…be Liverpool. It’s hard to come up with goals for this team to achieve when they are already the best team on the planet. Keep doing that.
Projected Liverpool Lineup (4-3-3)

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Lallana, Wijnaldum, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Mané

Jordan Henderson went off with a knock on Thursday, and so if Klopp has intentions to rotate anyone 72 hours later, it’s surely the captain. The heavy rotating will probably be saved for next Thursday’s game against Sheffield United.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the ranks of the injured, along with Fabinho, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, and Joel Matip.

For Wolves, Willy Boly and Morgan Gibbs-White will be missing from the line-up. Nuno’s men only have 48-hours turnover between this game and their last one against Manchester City, so we’ll see what kind of toll that takes on them on Sunday.
What the Managers Had to Say

Jurgen Klopp: “I really think the job Nuno is doing there is incredible with all the Europa League stress. I think at the beginning of the season they realised a little bit, ‘Oh, that’s different’. But now they are settled completely there, they are there again, Jimenez and Jota are scoring again.”

Nuno Espirito Santo: “I told [my players] to keep doing the same things and finding solutions. More important is that we stayed in the game. We didn’t do that, we conceded the second goal and made it hard for ourselves but it was a fantastic reaction. It was very good, the goals were nice, just very good!”
The Officials

Referee: Anthony Taylor. Assistants: Gary Beswick, Adam Nunn. Fourth official: Mike Dean. VAR: Simon Hooper. Assistant VAR: Andy Garratt

The Premier League’s game of the weekend sees two big clubs looking to get back on track. Fourth-place Chelsea goes to 11th-place Arsenal on Matchday 20 with both coming off less than inspiring results. Chelsea lost 2-0 at home to relegation contender Southampton on Boxing Day, while the Gunners failed to convince at Bournemouth, leaving with a fortunate 1-1 draw in the debut of new coach Mikel Arteta.

Here’s how you can watch the match and what to know:
Arsenal vs. Chelsea

Arsenal: At least Arteta didn’t lose his debut, and on the plus side, he played both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. There was more confidence but the end product was still lacking. Arteta isn’t to blame though, as he entered that match with just three training sessions with the team under his belt. It still may be a bit too early to try and see any changes, but the starting XI he goes with in this game will be telling on what needs fixing moving forward.

Chelsea: They didn’t build off the win at Tottenham, instead imploding at home to Southampton. This team is just better away from home, which is hard to understand. Again a poor Arsenal defense, they’ll have the chances they need to get the win, but Christian Pulisic’s creativity down the left will be needed after this attack struggled big time on Thursday. The Blues managed just three shots on goal against the worst defense in the league in Southampton.

It was a fairly safe lineup from Mikel Arteta in his debut against Bournemouth, with the only surprise being Reiss Nelson ahead of Pepe. Arsenal looked improved on defense, allowing the opponent just four shots on target the entire match – playing with two fill-in fullbacks. However, the Gunners managed just two themselves.

Now, the new man in charge has two massive home tests with Chelsea and Manchester United coming to the Emirates. Three or four points from those two matches would be huge boost for the squad, Arsenal’s season, and Arteta’s start. So how might Mikel adjust the starting XI for Chelsea, considering a number of players remain out or day of decisions.

Chiefs vs Bears Three of the 16 contests will be broadcast on Saturday. Along with games on Sunday and Monday night, this makes for five games alone in the national spotlight.

Here, you’ll find the full Week 16 schedule, along with live-stream and broadcast information. You’ll also find a look at some of the top storylines of the week. First, though, let’s check out the coverage map for Sunday’s games.

More realistically, the Bills have an opportunity to knock New England out of the No. 2 spot in the conference. If the Kansas City Chiefs win out and both they and the Patriots finish 12-4, the Chiefs will get the first-round by virtue of their head-to-head win.

While the Patriots are clinging onto a first-round bye, they’re all but out of the race for the AFC’s No. 1 seed. The Baltimore Ravens own it due to a one-game lead and a head-to-head win over the Patriots. All Baltimore needs to do to clinch the top spot is to beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

While nothing is inevitable in the NFL, it would be perhaps the surprise of the season to see the Ravens lose to the Browns at this point. Baltimore is rolling—and hasn’t lost since the last time these two rivals met—while Cleveland appears to be in complete collapse.

The NFL doesn’t have divisional title games—though that might not be the worst idea if the league really does want to expand the season and the playoffs. Every so often, though, we get what basically amounts to one late in the season.

With the college football regular season in the books, the NFL is taking over the entire weekend in Week 16, with a Saturday triple-header before Sunday’s slate of games.
How To Watch Chiefs vs Bears NFL Game 2019

The caliber of the opposition means a number of questions over the Patriots remain unanswered, but the win also takes some of the heat off New England after back-to-back losses against Houston and Kansas City.

Buffalo secured a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2017 with a 17-10 win in Pittsburgh on Sunday Night Football, improving to 10-4 and reaching double-digit wins for the first time since 1999. With no Thursday Night Football games left this season, the Bills’ trip to New England is one of three games scheduled for Saturday.

The other two matchups feature the Houston Texans traveling to Tampa Bay, while the San Francisco 49ers host the Los Angeles Rams. After defeating the Tennessee Titans 24-21 on the road in Week 15, Houston can clinch the AFC South for the fourth time in five years and secure a playoff spot with a win over the Buccaneers.

Green Bay clinched a playoff spot with a 21-13 win over the Bears and could win the division if they defeat the Vikings on Monday Night Football. The Bears, meanwhile, host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, with the latter still in the hunt for a top-two seed in the AFC.

Meanwhile, the race for the final wildcard spot in the AFC sees Pittsburgh face the New York Jets on the road, while Tennessee hosts New Orleans. Both the Steelers and the Titans are 8-6 after losing in Week 15, but Pittsburgh holds the tiebreaker by virtue of a better conference record.

==MATCH INFO==
NFL Football 2019 Week 16
Team : Lions AT Broncos
Date : Sunday, December 22
Location : Broncos Stadium at Mile High – Denver, Colorado
Start Time : 4:05 PM ET FOX

Danny Amendola was the driving force behind Detroit’s modest second-half comeback last week. The wide receiver caught eight passes for 102 yards on a team-leading 13 targets. Amendola has seen at least eight targets in the three games quarterback David Blough has started. With or without Marvin Jones, the veteran wideout has been the rookie quarterback’s favorite target.

“I think it’s pretty easy to see Danny on the football field on game day, how tough, how hard he plays. He just continually works all 60-minutes of the game,” Lions coach Matt Patricia said. “He is definitely one of those guys that maybe — he’s not necessarily sure when his number is going to be called or when the ball is going to come his way, but he’s going to run everything like it’s going to be his way every time. I think that’s just the mentality that you love to have as a coach. You love those guys that just love to play the game.

“He’s excited about playing the game. He’s tough; he works hard. But like I’ve said before, what you see on Sunday is what you get every single day here in the building. Whether it’s a meeting, practice — he throws himself around. He’s trying to do everything he can to compete every single day. Sometimes I say, ‘I have to protect himself from himself,’ sometimes because it’s just maybe a seven-on-seven rep, and he doesn’t need to lay out so hard, but he doesn’t care, he just wants to go play ball, and he wants to compete.”Defensive player to watch: S Tracy Walker

Tracy Walker has kept his highly productive season rolling since returning from a knee injury that forced him to miss three games. Walker has 27 tackles in the last three weeks while playing the majority of defensive snaps. Denver’s offense has two capable running backs in Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman, the blossoming Noah Fant at tight end and a bonafide No. 1 threat at receiver in Courtland Sutton. So, expect Walker to have another jam-packed Sunday afternoon on the back end of the defense.

Pro Football Focus has Walker graded at 71.9 overall, 63.1 stopping the run, 84.4 rushing the passer and 73.3 in coverage. His 89 tackles and 73 solo tackles lead the team despite missing three games.Related: Looking ahead: Detroit Lions draw another team on third starting QB in Denver BroncosRookie to watch: LB Jahlani Tavai

Jarrad Davis is on injured reserve, and Devon Kennard is questionable while Christian Jones has already been ruled out for Sunday. This all means linebacker Jahlani Tavai will continue to see an extended role through the final two games. He played 93% of the defensive snaps last week against Tampa Bay, which marked a career-high for the second-round rookie. Tavai had a modest five tackles but snatched the first interception of his career on the opening drive of the game.

“He gets better every single week. I really think, I really believe that the game is slowing down for him,” Lions defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni said. “He’s doing a really, really good job of making adjustments and alignments, and trying to help the front get lined up when we do have to adjust a little bit. I think that, to answer your question, I think he’s really growing. He’s doing a good job with the speed of the game, and like a lot of great players, as they get older and they mature, things slow down for them, and they are able to play at a fast pace.”Kenny Golladay vs. Chris Harris:

While Broncos cornerback Chris Harris moves around a bit in coverage, there’s a chance he’s matched up with Lions receiver Kenny Golladay more times than not. Detroit is very aware of what Harris can do, as the team reportedly made an offer for the veteran at the trade deadline.

Golladay leads the league with 10 touchdown catches and is nearly guaranteed for ample looks with Jones on IR. The third-year receiver’s production has dipped the last two weeks after exploding for 158 yards in Blough’s first start on Thanksgiving. He still has nine catches for 102 yards and one touchdown during that span.Related: Lions’ Kenny Golladay misses Pro Bowl despite leading WRs in TDs, cool with flying under radar

Harris is having a rough go the last four weeks out in coverage. PFF graded Harris at 56.9, 57.3, 49.6 and 53.1 in coverage the previous four times out, respectively. This season represents the nine-year pro’s worst in coverage per PFF at 64.8. His previous low was the 75.8 he posted in 2017 and 76.7 from his rookie season back in 2011.

“It’ll be fun. I’m looking forward to him probably following me around so I’m excited. He travels a lot,” Golladay said of Harris earlier this week.

How much of Vic Fangio’s defense has carried over from Chicago to Denver?Last season, Vic Fangio served as the defensive coordinator for the NFC North’s own Chicago Bears. Despite losing rising star Bradley Chubb after four games, Denver’s defense remains solid with some struggles against the run.

Fangio went from one all-world pass rusher to another with the switch from Khalil Mack to Von Miller. The Bears swept the Lions last season as the team won the division thanks to their stout defense.

“I think you see similarities with some of the things he’s done,” Patricia said on Friday. “Obviously, Vic’s been a lot of places, and you can kind of see the carry over from the different teams that he’s been with and some of those aspects as far as his packages that he has that he’ll bring out. I think some of it is expanded a little bit, too.

“There are a couple of different nickel looks out there that he’s running, too — some subcategory fronts and things like that. Certainly, you can see the foundation of what he does. Absolutely, of course.”Will Amani Oruwariye return to a more prominent role?

After a couple of weeks starring as one of Detroit’s few bright spots, rookie cornerback Amani Oruwariye fell out of the rotation with the return of Rashaan Melvin. He went from playing 44, 59 and 55 defensive snaps in the previous three weeks to only 13 against Tampa Bay.PFF graded Oruwariye at a putrid 27.7 in coverage last week while allowing four catches on four targets for 83 yards and a touchdown.

“I would say with Amani, he’s done a great job of studying, a great job learning, and I think he’s flashed some really good plays that we see that skill set that he has,” Patricia said last week. “For us, it will be being consistent. I think the more that he has those opportunities to play and being in a lot of situations instead of maybe play in just one particular situation — there’s the whole facet of the NFL game that he’s still trying to learn, so the situational awareness, maybe some of the different tips and tendencies based on early-down which may be different than third-down, some of the different sort of things that we say, ‘We have to do in this situation,’ and make sure that the game isn’t moving too fast for him in that avenue. When you have young players you try to build slowly with that.”Will David Blough and Drew Lock ‘cut it loose’ again?

The last time Blough and Drew Lock faced off, the two quarterbacks combined for 947 passing yards. Lock’s Missouri Tigers won 40-37 that day while he tossed for 375 yards and three touchdowns. Blough, in a losing effort for Purdue, threw for a school-record 572 yards and three touchdowns.

Chargers vs. Raiders: A look at how the teams match up
By Jeff MillerStaff Writer Raiders vs. Chargers: Five questions with the enemy Here’s a breakdown of how the Chargers (5-9) and the Oakland Raiders (6-8) match up as they head into Sunday’s game at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson:
When the Chargers have the ball

==MATCH INFO==
NFL Football 2019 Week 16
Team : Raiders AT Chargers
Date : Sunday, December 22
Location : StubHub Center – Carson, California
Start Time : 4:05 PM ET FOX

When the Chargers had the ball on their last series against Oakland, they failed to advance the football a single inch. In a 26-24 loss to the Raiders in Week 10, the Chargers had a chance to win when they took possession with 62 seconds remaining. They snapped the ball eight times and gained no yards.

The play breakdown: six incompletions, a defensive penalty and an interception. That’s the bad taste this offense will be attempting to rid itself of Sunday. But wait! There’s more.

The Chargers also are coming off a 39-10 pummeling, during which they turned the ball over to Minnesota seven times, the most for this franchise in a game since 1998. The quarterbacks more than two decades ago were Craig Whelihan (five interceptions) and Ryan Leaf (two interceptions and one fumble lost). The quarterback Sunday against the Vikings was Philip Rivers (three interceptions and one fumble lost). Rivers is trying to steady a season that repeatedly has wobbled on him. He is second in the NFL with 21 turnovers and, with 18, is three short of matching his career-high for interceptions. This is his final home game to prove he can still take care of the football. When the Raiders have the ball

Oakland will be without 1,000-yard rookie rusher Josh Jacobs, who helped beat the Chargers in Week 10 by scoring a touchdown with just over a minute to go. He has a shoulder injury. The Raiders also have lost Pro Bowl right tackle Trent Brown because of a pectoral problem and left guard Richie Incognito because of an ankle issue. In other words, their offensive line is a mess.

After beating the Chargers on Nov. 7, the Raiders narrowly slipped past 1-13 Cincinnati but now have lost four games in a row, scoring only 49 points in those defeats. Their biggest weapon Sunday should be 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end Darren Waller, who has 80 receptions for 1,001 yards. With his size, Waller could be a vital option on third down. Oakland is eighth-best in the NFL at converting third downs, and the

Chargers are 25th-worst at stopping teams on third down. Still, particularly given the injuries, this should be an offense the Chargers feel good about facing. The defense hung in as long as it could last week against Minnesota while the offense kept giving away the ball, until the whole afternoon collapsed in the second half. When they kick

Since joining the Raiders in midseason a year ago, Daniel Carlson is 31 of 38 on field-goal attempts and 49 of 51 on extra points. He is coming off a game in which he kicked three field goals but missed from 45 yards in the final two minutes. With the Chargers sputtering through a 5-9 season, Michael Badgley has missed eight games because of a groin injury and has had little impact a year after emerging to stabilize what had been a problem position. He kicked four field goals in a Week 9 victory over Green Bay but hasn’t figured prominently since.Jeff Miller’s prediction

Before these teams met in November, the forecast in this space had the Raiders winning by three. They ended up winning by two, which is a victory in the prediction business. By all logic, the Chargers should win and, consequently, are comfortably favored. But logic has had little to do with this Chargers season. Besides, Oakland somehow just lost at

home to a Jacksonville team the Chargers beat by five touchdowns 14 days ago. So, in the interest of the NFL continuing to make little to no sense …Editor’s Note: While the Raiders prepare to take on the Chargers, who as of this posting still play in Los Angeles for some reason, I had the opportunity to speak with Michael Peterson of Bolts From the Blue. Michael was kind enough to answer a few of my questions about the Chargers lack of home field advantage, Philip Rivers’ struggles and more.

Q: At this point, the Raiders have a larger, more established fan base in LA, leading many to jokingly suggest that Sunday will be a home game for the Silver and Black. Has a lack of true home field advantage hurt the Chargers record?

Oh yeah, it’ll definitely be a home game for the Raiders. In all honesty, I’ve always hated the team playing at home since they moved to LA. It hasn’t been because of the lack of fans, but because the atmosphere just isn’t the same. When they play away at normal-sized NFL stadium, the noise level and overall energy is what they are used to. When they play at home, the lack of noise is likely unsettling and doesn’t supply the normal amount of adrenaline some players rely on. In the end, I do think it’s affected the team, but not in the same way that the coaching staff and some suspect decision-making has cost them.

Q: Philip Rivers has had quite the uneven season in 2019, leading many to speculate on his future with the team beyond this season. What’s your best guess regarding the Chargers plan at quarterback in 2020?

I believe the Chargers will likely draft a quarterback in the 2020 draft but I fully expect Rivers to be the starter for another season. He has already said on multiple occasions that he wishes to play in the new LA stadium, and I can’t imagine he will just retire right before it opens following one of his worst years in recent memory.

Manchester United entered the weekend back in the top six in the Premier League but has its eyes on the top four when it goes to Vicarage Road to take on Watford on Sunday on Matchday 18. United is 6-7-4 with 25 points and just four points back of fourth-place Chelsea.

Watford, meanwhile, is the league’s worst team with a 1-6-10 record and nine points, currently sitting six points from safety with only nine goals scored and 32 conceded. Watford is on its third manager this season so far. Here’s everything to know about the game:Manchester United vs. Watford

Man. United: How did United follow up the wins over Tottenham and Manchester City? By drawing at home to Everton, of course. Then this team was tied 0-0 against Colchester in the EFL Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday. So pretty much, this result is in the range of a 3-0 road win to a 2-0 loss to the worst team in the league. You just never know what you’ll get with these Red Devils.

Watford: Absolutely massive game for Watford. The team is currently nine points back of safety, but a win here would be the absolutely fantastic energy-boosting result this team needs. With nine goals scored in 17 games, they have to take the few chances they get or else they’ll continue on their path to relegation.

Following the defeat at Bournemouth last month, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speculated whether he should have made changes to an unchanged league team. United were vibrant in the 3-1 stroll at Norwich six days earlier but the same XI were limp at the Vitality Stadium.

Eight days after the potential turning point at the Etihad, United returned to square one by drawing with Everton with an unchanged league XI. The same XI that eked out victory over Leicester were part of the seasonal nadir at West Ham and an unchanged side were humbled by Crystal Palace.

However logical it would be to keep the same side, it would also be complacent. Jesse Lingard’s limitations were exposed by Everton, Anthony Martial has scored one goal in his last six league appearances and Daniel James’s drought is ticking towards the four-month mark after three in his first four.

James’s productivity has hardly diminished (there were assists against Everton and City) overall and Martial netted in midweek. Lingard’s place might be in jeopardy again.Pereira to be picked?

Andreas Pereira complemented the front four at Norwich, where he enjoyed his finest performance of the campaign. His confident display in midweek was against League Two opposition but, in a squad devoid of an expert playmaker, the pass-the-parcel game could drop into Pereira’s hands again at Watford.

Early Boxing Day sales?Nemanja Matic and Phil Jones were excluded from the matchday 18 last week and Solskjaer admitted there was a slim chance of outgoings in January at United.

“There’s always a chance of it,” Solskjaer said of mid-season departures. “And I can say with 99.9 per cent sure they won’t go but there is always a chance teams will be interested in some of ours, maybe they’re not happy, haven’t played enough, so there might be a chance.”Matic and Jones could both miss the cut again. The latter has started four times this season and been substituted at the interval in his last three league starts.

If Jones has any aspirations of making a late run for the England European Championship squad then he needs to seek a mid-season move. Matic made a beeline for Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte in an interview with Tuttosport on Friday.Clean sheet?

United have not kept a clean sheet in their last 12 – their longest run without one for 48 years. They spent £125million on new defenders in the summer yet the improvement has not been reflected in the goals against column.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a near-impregnable right-back but Harry Maguire’s zenith in his short United career was on his debut against Chelsea. Watford have scored nine in league and five have come at Vicarage Road.

Will United finally capitalise?Had United beaten Everton and went onto win at Watford, they would have risen to fourth, for a couple of hours at the very least. Instead, they can only leapfrog Tottenham, who host Chelsea later today.

United have squandered opportunities to exert pressure already this season, be it going top in August or capitalising on the fecklessness at Arsenal. They need to start taking them if the Champions League logo is to grace the Old Trafford centre circle next season.
